We had been considering having a kitchen /diner extension for a number of years, hoping to make more efficient use of our home. We first met James two years before our project started, and after consultations with other builders felt that we would like him to do the job. We had James architect Ahmed to draw up the plans for us, he achieved just what we had asked for a room filled with lots of natural light and views onto the garden. The team started on a bank holiday Monday which was a nice surprise to us All of James team from the bricklayers, labourers to electricians were hardworking polite and friendly guys. After spending many weekends looking at kitchens we met Steve Wake the kitchen designer who works with James. He listened to our ideas and eventually came up with a beautiful fitted kitchen for us and managed to design us a corner larder cupboard to optimise our space. We couldn't decide on a colour, luckily Steve gave us right up until the final minute of production to decide. A problem we did have was trying to arrange time to see James as we were both at work and James wasn't available of an evening. However he came to the site each day to see how things were progressing. We now have just what we had dreamed off and everyone who sees it as to how it was before is very impressed. SDP recently completed our loft conversion, from start to finish they were superb! James and the team were incredibly open minded and friendly, they listened to all of our requirements. "Hair Salon Design Set Up. My Project was to set up a hair salon on the first floor of the striking and iconic ‘Sinclair Building’ in Sheffield City Centre. The Sinclair name itself is synonymous with quality, taste and a name ensconced in the history of Sheffield so the quality and finish of the project had to match the quality of the Sinclair’s store. SDP understood this from the start and James Clarke (Managing Director) project managed it personally from day one. The main reason I chose SDP was that I needed a diverse range of trades, joiners, plumbers, electricians, tilers and floor layers and SDP have highly experienced personal in house, who regularly work on “Blue Chip” projects..so I didn’t have to wait for a contractor to “fit me in” between jobs. The other unique factor for using SDP was that they also fabricate designs from stainless steel which was exactly what I wanted, as I needed shelving, sinks and panelling making to bespoke specifications out of metal. Working with James Clarke was an very enjoyable experience and I enjoyed the project immensely..there were no major problems, the project was finished bang on time and with no overspends! James and his team have just recently completed renovation work on our new home. The house was extremely dated, so required a new kitchen, new bathroom, as well as a lot of other work (knocking down a wall, moving an existing wall, changing a cupboard to a doorway, new boiler, changing a door to a window, installing French doors, removing a porch, new front door). From start to finish, the installation was seamless and completely stress free. On top of this, the work was completed on time! James organised all of the work to be completed by day, and managed the entire project. James put us in contact with Steve, the kitchen designer who listened to every aspect of our needs, and created a bespoke kitchen. Cannot rate this team highly enough - they are trustworthy, reliable, completes the work to the highest standard, and is constantly on standby to answer any questions. The house was always left clean and tidy. Overall, we are so impressed with the quality of the work, we will undoubtedly be having SPD back to complete further work on the house. Thanks so much!

We decided that as we were getting older a downstairs toilet would be beneficial. This would be built in the rear of our integral garage. With the front of the garage being extended, with new roof, to allow the continued garaging of our car. Getting planning permission took about 7 weeks. I felt that at least 3 quotations would be required. I had listed our requirements as detailed as possible and identified 3 builders, two local and the third, SDP, I found from a web search. Although SDP were not the lowest quote, we both felt that the way James, the Managing Director dealt with us, was impressive. We went to SDP office to discuss and sign the contract. I had thought of a few queries and tweaks which James accommodated without issue. He also advised us of suppliers they used, for us to choose some of the fitments etc. We were advised of a probable start date and probable duration of the work. Although there was some slippage it did not affect us. The basic building work was done by the team of Ian and his mate Richard. James was on site early most mornings, checking progress and ordering the materials as required. I had not really fully anticipated the level of work required, with lots of sand, bricks, aggregate, timber, and two skips etc. The weather was not always good but it never stopped Ian and Richard, although they were very wet on occasions. Cups of tea seemed to work wonders. James was open to my suggestions and queries although he did suggest on one occasion that I had ‘too much time to think’! Anyway most were accommodated where possible. All the tradesmen were also very professional and competent. Tidying up as they went along. Overall we were happy with the work; in particular the way Ian built false doors to the garage extension for security and in our hallway which really kept dust and disturbance to a minimum. He also built replacement shelves to the rear of the garage. Pricewise I was a little concerned, due to my suggestions and tweaks but it came in ‘on quote’ apart from a couple of items which we asked to be changed. James certainly seems to keep his several active projects, small and large, going with very little impact on ours. We would thoroughly recommend DPS and wish James and his team best wishes for the future.

"When we first thought about having the house extension built, I expected to be fulfilling the role of project manager, organising the trades and resources etc. But when the quote came in from SDP, which included James’ performing that task, it seemed a much more sensible idea to leave it to him given the differences in our relative experiences of the building trade (I had none). James did as he’d promised and turned up almost every day he had workmen here, making sure they were doing what they were expected to and that they had the resources they needed. He also kept us well informed about what to expect next. He’d provided a complete plan and timescale (which was perhaps a bit ambitious) at the start, and as is the case with many builds, things sometimes happened beyond our control that impacted the completion date. But James was always happy, willing and able to work around the delays, revising and rescheduling as required. Throughout the whole build James and his team have always been friendly, honest and polite, and have often contributed ideas and suggestions for making the build better, more professional and more effective.  Now the build is finished, we’re delighted, as we have a new kitchen, garage and workshop that get’s a ‘Wow!’ from everyone who sees them. We are happy to recommend SDP and would have no hesitation in using them again."
