FULL BUILDING RENOVATIONS

"Hair Salon Design Set Up. My Project was to set up a hair salon on the first floor of the striking and iconic ‘Sinclair Building’ in Sheffield City Centre. The Sinclair name itself is synonymous with quality, taste and a name ensconced in the history of Sheffield so the quality and finish of the project had to match the quality of the Sinclair’s store. SDP understood this from the start and James Clarke (Managing Director) project managed it personally from day one. The main reason I chose SDP was that I needed a diverse range of trades, joiners, plumbers, electricians, tilers and floor layers and SDP have highly experienced personal in house, who regularly work on “Blue Chip” projects..so I didn’t have to wait for a contractor to “fit me in” between jobs. The other unique factor for using SDP was that they also fabricate designs from stainless steel which was exactly what I wanted, as I needed shelving, sinks and panelling making to bespoke specifications out of metal. Working with James Clarke was an very enjoyable experience and I enjoyed the project immensely..there were no major problems, the project was finished bang on time and with no overspends! "After hearing good things, I contracted James and his team to do some considerable refurbishment work on one of my student terrace houses. The property needed a full loft conversion, a refurb of the main bathroom, bedroom, and dining room, and a totally new kitchen. Not only that – but with it being a student property we only had the small window of the summer holidays to get everything looking tip top again in time for the new academic year. It was a tall order but the job was completed to highest standard and with complete efficiency from the whole team at SDP. I couldn’t be happier with the work. Everything was completed on schedule, and with total transparency from James about where we were at, at every stage. Because of the terms and conditions drawn up in advance, I knew the exact schedule of works. Payment was spread across the duration of the project and there were no hidden costs.  SDP also sourced the kitchen themselves, using my specifications – which was a massive weight off my shoulders. We had been considering having a kitchen /diner extension for a number of years, hoping to make more efficient use of our home. We first met James two years before our project started, and after consultations with other builders felt that we would like him to do the job. We had James architect Ahmed to draw up the plans for us, he achieved just what we had asked for a room filled with lots of natural light and views onto the garden. The team started on a bank holiday Monday which was a nice surprise to us All of James team from the bricklayers, labourers to electricians were hardworking polite and friendly guys. After spending many weekends looking at kitchens we met Steve Wake the kitchen designer who works with James. He listened to our ideas and eventually came up with a beautiful fitted kitchen for us and managed to design us a corner larder cupboard to optimise our space. We couldn't decide on a colour, luckily Steve gave us right up until the final minute of production to decide. A problem we did have was trying to arrange time to see James as we were both at work and James wasn't available of an evening. However he came to the site each day to see how things were progressing. We now have just what we had dreamed off and everyone who sees it as to how it was before is very impressed. "We first met James when we went to view a house he refurbished on Cobnar Road, Woodseats. We liked him and were so impressed with the work his team had done that we didn’t need to think twice about who to call when we wanted an extension on the back of our house. James was on hand with help and advice from the very beginning right through to completion of the project. He introduced us to Ahmed, his architect (Nada Architects), who drew up some great plans for us and dealt with the planning permission. Once the building work began, James visited nearly every day to make sure everything was going well. His team of workmen were extremely hard working and polite. They arrived on time and at the end of each day they tidied up before leaving. Their work was of a very high standard, as we knew it would be. It was a pleasure having the whole SDP team around. "We contacted James after a recommendation from someone who had used SDP previously. We were looking to replace our kitchen and create some extra space via the removal of some adjoining walls. James and Steve were extremely helpful in terms of proposing different options, whilst always looking to meet our requirements. The final layout has meant much more than just a new kitchen. We feel like the rear of the house has been completely revamped, giving us a more airy, spacious, functional and modern kitchen / dining / entertaining space. Having also added some additional work to our roofed conservatory (underfloor heating, bi-fold doors and seamless flooring), like many of the other testimonials on this site, we too are receiving lots of ‘wows’ from visitors. A small extension to the front doorway was also carried out by SDP – this was also done to a high standard and has left us with a far more practical space. SDP recently completed our loft conversion, from start to finish they were superb! James and the team were incredibly open minded and friendly, they listened to all of our requirements. They kept us up to date with all progress and any amendments / changes which were required they offered options along with the pro / cons to each choice.
