Spring/Summer 2017 – Best Kitchen Trends

Each year, and each season there are new interior decorating trends to keep up with. Here at Steven James, we like to keep on trend, whilst also being timeless, meaning that our kitchens will never be out of style. Let’s take a look at some of the Spring/Summer 2017s most sought after trends in kitchens, maybe you can get some inspiration to undertake a kitchen renovation yourself. They’re totally separate from each other, so pick which one you like the best, and run with it!

1) think beyond Monochrome, grey and beige

Steven James Interior Design SheffieldMonochromatic greys, blacks and whites are beautiful, modern and sleek. However, there’s something to be said about adding a splash of colour to your kitchen. Your favourite colour can take your kitchen from being straight from a catalogue, to totally your own, and unique in every way.
Lighter colours like blues, and greens will lighten the room up, and create the illusion of more space, whilst darker colours like navy and red will make for a cosier, more intimate vibe.

2) put some metal in it!

Steven James Kitchens SheffieldThe kitchen is often a place for granite, and wood. Mix it up a bit, and get industrial. Metal is a great accessory for any kitchen. It’s reflective, so creates the illusion of more light and space, is super easy to clean, and easy to maintain. What’s more, it’s stylish, as it is often silver or black, so goes with anything. A good companion to both modern, and classic kitchens, metal is an easy staple in many kitchens. Mix with creams and greys for an ultra stylish, ultra modern looking kitchen, with that will make everyone who sees it, say ‘WOW’

3) Design from the walls outward

A feature wall is often used in a bedroom or a living room, why not put it in the kitchen? Tiles can provide intricate details on an otherwise bland wall, or wallpaper can be used to separate and brighten up the largest of rooms. A bold, eye level background is a brilliant accessory for any kitchen. Tiles are also much easier to clean than standard wall, so there’s no real downside. Stylish, and useful.

4) Go back to classics

It’s an oldie but goodie, a classic style kitchen is timeless. Tuck away any unsightly appliances such as microwaves and blenders in cupboards, and leave space to showcase beautiful wood features. We love the way the oven in this kitchen is sandwiched between two counters, but separated from them with columns. It gives it it’s own space, and leaves the kitchen open to design and change without being held down by appliances. The wooden counters in here are stunning, and deserved to be showcased fully!

5) embrace those appliances

Contrary to number 4, if you’ve got them, flaunt them! If you’ve got a  kitchen kitted out with technology should be shown off. This kitchen features a plasma hidden in the island counter, a full american fridge freezer, a boiling water tap and a microwave oven! When it comes to tech, more is more!
