"We were immediately impressed by SDP, because, unlike many similar businesses, there is a project manager, James Clarke, who liaises directly with clients and tradesmen. We felt safe in instructing this company to work for us, because we knew that we could go back to James if there were any problems. However, the job couldn’t have been slicker. The workmen turned up punctually and completed the work on time. They were friendly, polite and caused minimal disruption. I am registered blind and they were sensitive to this throughout, letting me know when and where to be more cautious when moving around in areas where they were working. After the work was complete, James phoned us to check whether we were happy with the work, prior to invoicing us. When I queried one issue which we were unsure about, he came out especially to inspect and ensured me that there was nothing to worry about. We now have a lovely new pavement outside our house; not only is it a bit more flood-proof, but much to our cleaner’s delight, is easier to sweep. My husband and I are currently in the process of requesting quotations for further work by SDP. It doesn’t seem to matter what job needs doing; they have all types of tradesmen: plumbers, carpenters, joiners, decorators, electricians, damp-proof specialists, roofers and people to do other outside work. We had a fantastic experience with SDP. James and his team knocked through our lounge and kitchen last year, this involved obtaining structural engineer's calculations, knocking through the brickwork, putting in steel support then arranging building regulation sign off. This was finished by 'making good' including plumbing a new radiator, re tiling the floor and re plastering. The work was carried out to the highest standard and from start to finish the process was smooth. What really impressed me was how specific James and his team were with the timeline of events and when they would occur so we could adequately plan ahead and his team are really friendly. We are already planning on using SDP again when we extend our kitchen later this year. I cannot recommend them highly enough!

We decided that as we were getting older a downstairs toilet would be beneficial. This would be built in the rear of our integral garage. With the front of the garage being extended, with new roof, to allow the continued garaging of our car. Getting planning permission took about 7 weeks. I felt that at least 3 quotations would be required. I had listed our requirements as detailed as possible and identified 3 builders, two local and the third, SDP, I found from a web search. Although SDP were not the lowest quote, we both felt that the way James, the Managing Director dealt with us, was impressive. We went to SDP office to discuss and sign the contract. I had thought of a few queries and tweaks which James accommodated without issue. He also advised us of suppliers they used, for us to choose some of the fitments etc. We were advised of a probable start date and probable duration of the work. Although there was some slippage it did not affect us. The basic building work was done by the team of Ian and his mate Richard. James was on site early most mornings, checking progress and ordering the materials as required. I had not really fully anticipated the level of work required, with lots of sand, bricks, aggregate, timber, and two skips etc. The weather was not always good but it never stopped Ian and Richard, although they were very wet on occasions. Cups of tea seemed to work wonders. James was open to my suggestions and queries although he did suggest on one occasion that I had ‘too much time to think’! Anyway most were accommodated where possible. All the tradesmen were also very professional and competent. Tidying up as they went along. Overall we were happy with the work; in particular the way Ian built false doors to the garage extension for security and in our hallway which really kept dust and disturbance to a minimum. He also built replacement shelves to the rear of the garage. Pricewise I was a little concerned, due to my suggestions and tweaks but it came in ‘on quote’ apart from a couple of items which we asked to be changed. James certainly seems to keep his several active projects, small and large, going with very little impact on ours. We would thoroughly recommend DPS and wish James and his team best wishes for the future.

The coordination of all the trades was seamless and the work was to a very high standard. Great communication, everything cleared away well, the building secured and weekly payments so you only pay for the work completed that week. Would definitely use SDP again.

We heard about James and SDP through a recommendation, so arranged what was a very friendly and informative meeting. We received a quote from him that was good value and comparable to other quotes received. We chose James because the finishes on the pictures on his website certainly looked impressive, and for the personal touch that was already apparent. This was also true of Steve, who designed the kitchen, and who was equally friendly and full of ideas. Nothing was too much trouble throughout the project, which was completed quickly and in a highly efficient way. We were in very regular contact with James, who was incredibly accommodating of anything we asked, and offered plenty of good suggestions, always looking to minimise costs as well as deliver a quality product. An example of this was a suggestion to alter the original design to incorporate a goalpost steel and remove a large pillar – something we didn’t think was feasible. He did this despite additional pressures on his team’s schedule, and kept costs down as much as possible. The end result was phenomenal - and hugely appreciated - transforming the space into a stunning kitchen diner that has wowed everyone who has visited since. Throughout the project, we were kept completely informed of timescales and what was happening next, and this was all done with a great degree of humour – the relationship developed between us and his team into a really close one. All of the numerous guys who worked on our extension were friendly, polite, clean and highly skilled. The end result has transformed our lives. It’s the first extension we’ve had done, and we were full of trepidation, but the whole experience was far less stressful than we imagined it would be; a major factor in this was that way that everything was managed via James as our main point of contact (although the various workmen were equally accommodating whenever we asked anything of them). All in all, I would highly recommend James and SDP. It’ll be the bathrooms next! Cheers bud Matt

"When we first thought about having the house extension built, I expected to be fulfilling the role of project manager, organising the trades and resources etc. But when the quote came in from SDP, which included James’ performing that task, it seemed a much more sensible idea to leave it to him given the differences in our relative experiences of the building trade (I had none). James did as he’d promised and turned up almost every day he had workmen here, making sure they were doing what they were expected to and that they had the resources they needed. He also kept us well informed about what to expect next. He’d provided a complete plan and timescale (which was perhaps a bit ambitious) at the start, and as is the case with many builds, things sometimes happened beyond our control that impacted the completion date. But James was always happy, willing and able to work around the delays, revising and rescheduling as required. Throughout the whole build James and his team have always been friendly, honest and polite, and have often contributed ideas and suggestions for making the build better, more professional and more effective.  Now the build is finished, we’re delighted, as we have a new kitchen, garage and workshop that get’s a ‘Wow!’ from everyone who sees them. We are happy to recommend SDP and would have no hesitation in using them again."

James and his team have just recently completed renovation work on our new home. The house was extremely dated, so required a new kitchen, new bathroom, as well as a lot of other work (knocking down a wall, moving an existing wall, changing a cupboard to a doorway, new boiler, changing a door to a window, installing French doors, removing a porch, new front door). From start to finish, the installation was seamless and completely stress free. On top of this, the work was completed on time! James organised all of the work to be completed by day, and managed the entire project. James put us in contact with Steve, the kitchen designer who listened to every aspect of our needs, and created a bespoke kitchen. Cannot rate this team highly enough - they are trustworthy, reliable, completes the work to the highest standard, and is constantly on standby to answer any questions.
