"Hair Salon Design Set Up. My Project was to set up a hair salon on the first floor of the striking and iconic ‘Sinclair Building’ in Sheffield City Centre. The Sinclair name itself is synonymous with quality, taste and a name ensconced in the history of Sheffield so the quality and finish of the project had to match the quality of the Sinclair’s store. SDP understood this from the start and James Clarke (Managing Director) project managed it personally from day one. The main reason I chose SDP was that I needed a diverse range of trades, joiners, plumbers, electricians, tilers and floor layers and SDP have highly experienced personal in house, who regularly work on “Blue Chip” projects..so I didn’t have to wait for a contractor to “fit me in” between jobs. The other unique factor for using SDP was that they also fabricate designs from stainless steel which was exactly what I wanted, as I needed shelving, sinks and panelling making to bespoke specifications out of metal. Working with James Clarke was an very enjoyable experience and I enjoyed the project immensely..there were no major problems, the project was finished bang on time and with no overspends! We heard about James and SDP through a recommendation, so arranged what was a very friendly and informative meeting. We received a quote from him that was good value and comparable to other quotes received. We chose James because the finishes on the pictures on his website certainly looked impressive, and for the personal touch that was already apparent. This was also true of Steve, who designed the kitchen, and who was equally friendly and full of ideas. Nothing was too much trouble throughout the project, which was completed quickly and in a highly efficient way. We were in very regular contact with James, who was incredibly accommodating of anything we asked, and offered plenty of good suggestions, always looking to minimise costs as well as deliver a quality product. An example of this was a suggestion to alter the original design to incorporate a goalpost steel and remove a large pillar – something we didn’t think was feasible. He did this despite additional pressures on his team’s schedule, and kept costs down as much as possible. The end result was phenomenal - and hugely appreciated - transforming the space into a stunning kitchen diner that has wowed everyone who has visited since. Throughout the project, we were kept completely informed of timescales and what was happening next, and this was all done with a great degree of humour – the relationship developed between us and his team into a really close one. All of the numerous guys who worked on our extension were friendly, polite, clean and highly skilled. The end result has transformed our lives. It’s the first extension we’ve had done, and we were full of trepidation, but the whole experience was far less stressful than we imagined it would be; a major factor in this was that way that everything was managed via James as our main point of contact (although the various workmen were equally accommodating whenever we asked anything of them). All in all, I would highly recommend James and SDP. It’ll be the bathrooms next! Cheers bud Matt

We had been considering having a kitchen /diner extension for a number of years, hoping to make more efficient use of our home. We first met James two years before our project started, and after consultations with other builders felt that we would like him to do the job. We had James architect Ahmed to draw up the plans for us, he achieved just what we had asked for a room filled with lots of natural light and views onto the garden. The team started on a bank holiday Monday which was a nice surprise to us All of James team from the bricklayers, labourers to electricians were hardworking polite and friendly guys. After spending many weekends looking at kitchens we met Steve Wake the kitchen designer who works with James. He listened to our ideas and eventually came up with a beautiful fitted kitchen for us and managed to design us a corner larder cupboard to optimise our space. We couldn't decide on a colour, luckily Steve gave us right up until the final minute of production to decide. A problem we did have was trying to arrange time to see James as we were both at work and James wasn't available of an evening. However he came to the site each day to see how things were progressing. We now have just what we had dreamed off and everyone who sees it as to how it was before is very impressed. "We recently used SDP to relocate our bathroom and the other rooms on our first floor. From the initial visit to the end of the build they understood what we wanted and worked with us to achieve it. They removed the existing bathroom and completely relocated it, including all fitting and plumbing, a new wall, doorway, skirting boards, and skimming the walls in the process. They protected the carpets throughout the work and tidied at the end of each day.  They had great attention to detail and the tiling in the bathroom looks fantastic. "I selected SDP to undertake a redevelopment and extension of the rear of the ground floor of my 100 year old semi because James approached the project in a very professional manner, explaining that he supplied a price, not an estimate, he gave a timescale and guaranteed daily visits to my house to project manage the work. There were inevitable little hiccups but nothing that James and I could not discuss and sort out. It was most helpful that James was always on hand so that queries could swiftly be dealt with. Together we could talk through tweaks to the plans. James employs a team of very polite, considerate and caring workers who always treated the house as my home, not as a ‘building site’. As well as this team James also hires in skilled artisans which has resulted in a completed open-plan family room/kitchen/dining room along with a loo and utility room that exceeds my original hopes and plans. We had a fantastic experience with SDP. James and his team knocked through our lounge and kitchen last year, this involved obtaining structural engineer's calculations, knocking through the brickwork, putting in steel support then arranging building regulation sign off. This was finished by 'making good' including plumbing a new radiator, re tiling the floor and re plastering. The work was carried out to the highest standard and from start to finish the process was smooth. What really impressed me was how specific James and his team were with the timeline of events and when they would occur so we could adequately plan ahead and his team are really friendly. We are already planning on using SDP again when we extend our kitchen later this year. I cannot recommend them highly enough!
