Choosing Your Colour Scheme Before Your Kitchen Renovation

Choosing Your Colour Scheme Before Your Kitchen Renovation

It’s finally time for a kitchen renovation or maybe you’ve just moved house…but where to start? Do you choose the flooring or lighting first? Do you choose the cabinets before or after the kitchen worktops? Paint, fabrics, appliances?! It can all get a little overwhelming. The solution to this may seem a simple one but from our experience it’s often overlooked!

The answer to your nightmares? A colour scheme

Once you decide on the theme, you’ll be ready to choose worktops, flooring and cabinets that match your style.

The key point when choosing a colour scheme is which option will give you the most timeless result? You don’t want your kitchen to be outdated in 12 months time…Although it may feel sleek picking something really outgoing and in fashion, such as bright pop colours, you could end up regretting this later on. Kitchen countertops, particularly surfaces like granite and quartz, are a big investment, not only are they long lasting but they also help increase the worth of your home. So unless you love switching your kitchen around every year, pick something you could see yourself cooking in 3 years down the line.

Timeless doesn’t = Boring.

Now don’t get us wrong, we don’t mean you have to go all mellow on us. You can still pick standout colours. For example, if you’re looking at kitchen worktops, there are many granite options in earthy tones, like beige, brown,  grey and many in wilder tones such as blues, deep burgundy or reds.

If you’re choosing granite or quartz, try and pick a colour that you could mix and match wall paint with, by doing this, you can always give your kitchen a quick change of colour sooner without swapping the worktops!
